A big favourite with the tasting panel who described this one as "a bit of a beast." Meaty, with an ever-present smokiness, this dram displays a confident character and a richness to be remembered. There is also a layer of sweetness, demonstrated by strawberry jam, wine gums and caramelised sugar notes.

Ardmore Information

A substantial Victorian distillery, Ardmore has scale which is surprising given its gentle rural surroundings. It is also unusual due to the style of whisky it produces – a peated Highland malt.

Tasting Notes

Nose:

Meaty, blown out candle smoke, bit of a beast.

Flavour:

Strawberry jam, tannin, wine gums, caramelised sugar, cured ham.

Finish:

Distant smoke, dried burnt embers, cloves.
