Fino Hogshead since 2020

Re-racked into a Fino hogshead in 2020, this 18 year old dram from the Speyside distillery of Benrinnes is fruity and floral with notes of blood orange, shortbread, toasted oats, toffee and verbena.

There is no doubt that Benrinnes is a Cadenhead's favourite and it isn't hard to work out why.

Not known for being a single malt (being only occasionally seen as such where it displays a meaty character), which gives independent bottlers the perfect opportunity to showcase distilleries like Benrinnes.

The current location of the Benrinnes distillery is actually its second site. The original was built in 1826 by a man named Peter MacKenzie but this was destroyed in a 1829 flood. A new site was then found by John Innes.

Tasting Notes

Nose:

Mixed fruit fizzy drink, sherbet, blood orange, creamy, pastry, verbena

Flavour:

Fresh orange with pulp, very juicy, shortcrust, toasted oats, toffee

Finish:

Orange marmalade, lime zest, sea salt, turmeric, cumin, bay leaves
