Rum barrel since 2024

One of only a handful of Scotch distilleries to use a mash filter instead of a traditional mash tun, Teaninich distillery can be found near the village of Alness. This bottling, finished in a rum barrel, features notes of tropical fruits, cloves, cocoa powder and cinnamon.

Teaninich

The most fascinating part of Teaninich is the hammer mill and mash filter – the only one operational in a Scottish malt distillery – that was installed in 2000. This removes the need for a mash tun, produces clear wort, and heavily influences the whisky's nature: it is flagrant and floral, bringing to mind a freshly cut grassy field in springtime.

In the modern whisky industry, Teaninich is mostly used for blends.
