In 2019, we acquired some casks, which previously held vermouth, and decided to have an experiment. We filled one of the casks with single malt Scotch whisky, from Benrinnes Distillery, then matured it for a further 6 years in one of our warehouses in Campbeltown until we tried it again recently and decided it was ready to bottle.

As vermouth has botanicals added post distillation, it cannot legally be called single single malt Scotch whisky so we decided to call it a ‘Scottish Spirit Drink’ and pay homage to a historic Cadenhead’s range, Putachieside.

Putachieside was the area of old Aberdeen in which Wm Cadenhead Ltd was established in the early Victorian era and this limited edition bottling gives a nod to our rich historic past.
