Nose
A good honest bourbon matured whisky. Vanilla sponge cake, green Granny Smith apples, Amaretti di Saronno, white grapes, digestive biscuits. Earthy, malty richness.
Palate
Creamy. Viennese whirls, Scottish fern cake, cinnamon, apple strudel.
Finish
Candy-floss, crystallised ginger, smoked paprika.

There is no doubt that Benrinnes is a Cadenhead's favourite and it isn't hard to work out why.
Not known for being a single malt (being only occasionally seen as such where it displays a meaty character), which gives independent bottlers the perfect opportunity to showcase this distillery.
The current location of the Benrinnes distillery is actually its second site. The original was built in 1826 by a man named Peter MacKenzie but this was destroyed in a 1829 flood. A new site was then found by John Innes.
